The purpose of the Fort Monroe
Spouses’ and Civilians’ Club is to foster and promote social,
educational, and cultural activities among our members and to support
activities that benefit the Army and Army families. As a part of the
Fort Monroe community, our Club is also committed to the betterment of
Fort Monroe and the surrounding communities. Throughout the year we work
toward our goal of improving Fort Monroe and its surrounding communities
by contributing charitable funds to such programs as Fort Monroe’s
Morale Welfare and Recreation, the National Military Family Association, USO of Hampton Roads and even our local public and private schools. Last
year alone, our efforts allowed us to contribute over $6,000.00 to these
deserving organizations. Our club also provides scholarships to local
Army family member High School students and military spouses who wish to
obtain some form of higher education. During our 2006-2007 Board year,
the club was able to award $9,000 in scholarship money to military
spouses and local high school students. While pursuing our main goals of
fund-raising, we are also able to provide an opportunity for our members
to come together to share information, experiences and ideas. We also
hope to provide an opportunity for military spouses to connect with one
another and build friendships that may last even beyond the day our
“green suitor” retires from his or her military service. That is why we
believe our club is “Building Friendships One Member at a Time”.
